About the project
At Residenca Aluna 5, the walls in contact with the ground needed a continuous waterproofing layer to keep the basement dry. SARP supplied the system and supervised its application with Klar shpk.
Underground walls are exposed to soil moisture and, on many sites, to water pressure. The waterproofing is applied to the outside face before backfilling, and has to connect without gaps to the foundation below.
System applied
The underground walls were waterproofed with Mapeproof P5, a bentonite sheet whose natural sodium bentonite swells on contact with water and seals the wall. Construction joints were sealed with Mapeplan Waterstop PVC waterstops, and pipes and other penetrations with Mapeproof Mastic bentonite paste.
Mapelastic Smart flexible cementitious membrane, reinforced with Mapenet 150 glass-fibre mesh, completed the waterproofing, and the finished walls were protected with the Polyfond Kit HDPE studded sheet, which also drains water away from the wall before backfilling.
