How it is applied

  1. Prepare the substrate

It must be cured, mechanically strong, sufficiently dry and free of loose particles, grease, oils, paint and wax. In spring and summer, cure renders for at least one week per cm of thickness and cement screeds for at least 28 days, unless made with MAPEI binders such as Mapecem, Mapecem Pronto, Topcem or Topcem Pronto. Treat dry gypsum and anhydrite with Primer G or Eco Prim T Plus.

  2. Mix

Mix with clean water, approx. 25-27 parts per 100 parts by weight (approx. 6.3-6.8 litres per 25 kg), to a homogeneous, lump-free paste. Rest for 5-10 minutes and re-mix. The mix is workable for at least 8 hours.

  3. Spread

Spread a thin layer with the smooth side of the trowel, then immediately apply the required thickness with a notched trowel suited to the tile. Use double-buttering for tiles with a side over 30 cm outdoors, large formats with a side over 60 cm, underfloor heating, floors to be sanded on site or under heavy loads, swimming pools and water tanks.

  4. Lay the tiles

There is no need to wet the tiles; wipe very dusty backs in clean water. Press firmly. If a skin has formed on the adhesive, retrowel it, and do not wet it. Adjust tiles within 45 minutes.

  5. Protect

Protect from washout and rain for at least 24 hours, and from freezing and direct sun for at least 5-7 days.

  6. Grout and seal

Grout wall joints after 4-8 hours and floor joints after 24 hours with MAPEI cementitious or epoxy grouts. Seal expansion joints with MAPEI sealants.
