Isolastic
Latex additive to impart elasticity to cementitious adhesives, improving their adhesion, deformability and waterproofing.
Supplied by SARP & LAB, the only authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania.
Where it is used
- Mixed with Kerabond T and other Kerabond range adhesives, for ceramic tiles of every type, glass mosaic and dimensionally stable stone, indoors and outdoors
- Ceramic tiles over underfloor heating and on façades, including large-format and slim tiles
- Ceramic tiles and moisture-resistant stone outdoors: swimming pools, balconies, terraces
- Precast or cast concrete structures, old flooring (ceramic, marble, terrazzo, wood, etc.) and asphalt screeds
- Deformable substrates such as gypsum-board panels, reinforced concrete and fibre-cement board
- Surfaces waterproofed with the Mapelastic range; diluted 1:1 with Adesilex P10, for glass or ceramic mosaic, including in swimming pools and tanks
Why Isolastic
- Used in place of the mixing water, Kerabond T meets class C2ES2
- Improves adhesion to all substrates, deformability and impermeability
- Choose by need: undiluted for highly deformable S2, diluted 1:1 for deformable S1
- Mixed with Kerabond T, tensile adhesion reaches 2.4 N/mm² initially
- EC1 Plus: very low emission of volatile organic compounds
How it is applied
-
Prepare the substrate
It must be flat, mechanically strong and free from loose parts, grease, oil, paint and wax. Cure precast or in situ concrete for at least 3 months in favourable weather, renders one week per cm of thickness in warm weather, and cementitious screeds at least 28 days, unless made with Mapecem, Mapecem Pronto, Topcem or Topcem Pronto. Treat dry gypsum and anhydrite with an acrylic primer such as Primer G or Eco Prim T Plus.
-
Choose the ratio
Use Isolastic in place of all the water for a highly deformable S2 adhesive: 8.25 kg per 25 kg bag of Kerabond T. Dilute 1:1 with water for a deformable S1 adhesive: 4 kg of Isolastic + 4 kg of water per 25 kg bag.
-
Mix
When diluting, first blend Isolastic with a small amount of clean water. Pour the powder into the liquid, stirring continuously with a slow-speed mechanical mixer to a smooth, lump-free paste. Let it stand for a few minutes and stir again.
-
Spread
Spread a thin layer with the smooth side of the trowel, then immediately the required thickness with the notched part. Double-butter for outdoor tiles with the largest side over 30 cm, large formats with the largest side over 60 cm, heating floors, floors to be sanded in situ or under heavy loads, swimming pools and water tanks.
-
Install the tiles
Follow the data sheet of the adhesive used. The open time will be slightly shorter than that of the base product, so keep checking that the adhesive has not formed a skin.
-
Grout and seal
Grout wall joints after 4-8 hours with MAPEI cementitious or epoxy grouts. Seal expansion joints with MAPEI sealants.

Application precautions
- Never for stone slabs subject to moisture movement, or marble and natural stone subject to efflorescence or staining from moisture
- Never for tiles in reservoirs, swimming pools or refrigeration rooms that must be put into service quickly
- Never on metal, rubber, PVC and linoleum surfaces
- Never at temperatures below +5°C or above +40°C
- In dry, hot climates the open time is shorter: keep checking for a surface skin and re-trowel, or replace the adhesive if it has begun to set
- Protect from frost

Frequently asked questions
Which adhesives is it mixed with?
Kerabond Easy, Kerabond, Kerabond T and Kerabond Plus, undiluted or diluted 1:1 with water, and Adesilex P10 diluted 1:1 with water.
Should I dilute it?
Use it undiluted when a highly deformable S2 adhesive is needed, for example on substrates with strong size variations or for large tiles. Diluted 1:1 gives a deformable S1 adhesive, for example on moderately unstable substrates or cured concrete.
How much do I need per m²?
Undiluted with powder adhesive: 0.7-1 kg/m² for mosaic and small tiles, 1.3-1.7 kg/m² for medium tiles and over 2 kg/m² for large tiles. Diluted 1:1, half of the liquid is water: see the technical data.
When can pools be filled?
Basins and swimming pools can be filled after 4 weeks. Other surfaces are ready for use after approximately 14 days.
Is there a warranty?
If required, MAPEI can provide a warranty for each product it sells. Contact us about your case.
