Mapeflex PU 45 FT
Paintable, rapid, high modulus polyurethane sealant and adhesive, for expansion and distribution joints on horizontal and vertical surfaces and for flexible bonds.
Supplied by SARP & LAB, the only authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania.
Where it is used
- Industrial floors subject to vehicular traffic, including heavy vehicles
- Concrete floors in internal and external car-parks, supermarkets, shopping centres and warehouses
- Ceramic flooring and coatings, including intense traffic areas and environments with fork-lifts
- Concrete walls and internal and external vertical structures; cracks and general fillet joints
- Pipe-work systems for air-conditioning and electric cables, and sheet-steel sections such as flashing and guttering
- Flexible bonds up to 3 mm thick: skirting boards, window sills, bathroom fittings, roofing tiles and insulation panels
Why Mapeflex PU 45 FT
- Also suited to joints subject to occasional chemical attack by hydrocarbons
- One-component, thixotropic and easy to apply on horizontal and vertical surfaces
- Rapid hardening allows the surface to be put into service quickly
- Solvent-free, with a low impact on the environment
- Bonds without primer on solid, dust-free, perfectly clean and dry substrates
- Complies with EN 15651-1 and EN 15651-4
How it is applied
-
Prepare the surfaces
All surfaces must be dry, sound and free of dust, crumbling parts, oil, grease, wax and old paint. Apply masking tape along the edges and remove it immediately after smoothing.
-
Set the depth
In expansion and contraction joints the sealant must bond only to the sides: place Mapefoam closed-cell expanded polyethylene cord at the bottom. Sealant depth equals the width up to 10 mm, is 10 mm from 11 to 20 mm, and half the width above 20 mm.
-
Prime where needed
To increase adhesion and durability, use Mapei Primerseal M on absorbent and non-absorbent substrates, and apply the sealant no later than 6 hours afterwards. On metal only, Mapei Actiprimer M alone. On plastics, roughen with fine sandpaper and apply Primer P (approximately 20 minutes to dry at +23°C).
-
Apply as a sealant
Place the cartridge in the special extrusion gun, open the tip and cut the nozzle at 45° to the required width. Extrude in a continuous flow, avoiding entrapped air.
-
Finish
Before a surface skin forms, finish with a tool (e.g. Mapei Perfect Seal) moistened with Mapei UltraCare Smooth Silicone, or smooth dry after protecting the edges with adhesive paper masking tape.
-
Use as an adhesive
Small sections: single drops on the back, pressed well down. Large sections: vertical parallel beads around 15 cm apart. Adjust within approx. 6 minutes at +23°C. Heavy loads may need support for the first 24 hours. Layers must not exceed 3 mm.

Application precautions
- Do not use on damp, dusty or flaky surfaces, or below +5°C
- Do not use to seal joints in stone and marble: use Mapesil LM or Mapesil Stone Matt
- Do not use on surfaces dirty with oil, grease or mould-stripping compounds, or on bituminous surfaces with bleeding oil
- Never contaminate the surface of fresh sealant with alcohol or any solvent, or it may not polymerise correctly
- On particularly absorbent substrates, the joint edges may become darker
- For movements greater than 20%, use Mapeflex PU40

Frequently asked questions
How many metres does a cartridge cover?
A 300 ml cartridge gives 12 m at 5 x 5 mm, 3 m at 10 x 10 mm, 1.5 m at 20 x 10 mm and 0.6 m at 30 x 15 mm. A 600 ml cartridge gives 24 m, 6 m, 3 m and 1.3 m respectively. As an adhesive, consumption depends on the method (beads or spots).
Can it be used on floors with heavy traffic?
Yes. It is used on industrial floors subject to vehicular traffic, including heavy vehicles, and on ceramic flooring in areas with intense traffic and fork-lifts, with movements up to 20% of the average joint width.
Can it be used on stone or marble?
No. For joints in stone and marble, use Mapesil LM or Mapesil Stone Matt.
Can it be painted?
Yes, once completely polymerised. MAPEI recommends elastomeric paint such as Elastocolor Paint after treating the sealant surface with Colorite Performance. Always test compatibility first.
How quickly does it set?
At +23°C and 50% R.H. it is dust dry in 35 minutes and sets 3.3 mm in 24 hours, 5.2 mm in 48 hours and 8.5 mm in 7 days. Light foot traffic depends on joint depth.
Is there a warranty?
If required, MAPEI can provide a warranty for each product it sells. Contact us about your case.
