Primer 3296
Acrylic primer in water dispersion, used as a dust-repellent and consolidator on masonry, render and screed, or as an adhesion promoter before strengthening and waterproofing work.
Supplied by SARP & LAB, the only authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania.
Where it is used
- Consolidating weak, crumbling and dusty substrates, indoors and outdoors
- Eliminating dust from old masonry, vaulted ceilings and exposed brick masonry
- Primer before cementitious and lime-based skimming and smoothing compounds
- Surface consolidator before strengthening work and waterproofing products, to improve their adhesion
- Dusty screeds before wood flooring with vinyl adhesive, and pulverulent screeds before floating floors
- Indoors, as an impregnator for dusty cementitious grout lines, to reduce porosity and absorption
Why Primer 3296
- Micronized acrylic polymer gives high penetration, even on surfaces with low porosity
- Consolidates surfaces and eliminates dust, giving good mechanical strength
- As a primer for self-levelling products, it reduces pinholes and prevents them drying too quickly
- Water dispersion, suitable for interior and exterior environments
How it is applied
-
Prepare the substrate
The substrate must be dry, clean and free of grease, oil, paint and other substances that could impede penetration.
-
Dilute
Use pure or diluted 1:1 or 1:2 with water, depending on the application and the absorption of the substrate.
-
Apply
Apply by brush, large brush, broom or roller. Do not apply so much that it is not absorbed, to avoid forming a surface film.
-
Wait
Wait 12-24 hours before the next operation. Before wood flooring with vinyl adhesive, wait 12-48 hours. Before self-levelling and skimming compounds, wait until the primer has set.

Application precautions
- Do not use on non-absorbent surfaces, damp surfaces or surfaces subject to rising damp
- Do not apply on anhydrite-based substrates
- For wooden flooring after treatment, use only vinyl adhesives: not compatible with two-component adhesive or one-component polyurethane
- If applied in excess, check the moisture content with a carbide hygrometer before bonding or smoothing

Frequently asked questions
How much is needed per m²?
It depends on the absorbency and porosity of the surface, and generally varies between 0.1 and 0.5 kg/m².
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes. It is suitable for interior and exterior environments, except for its use on grout lines, which is for internal areas.
Should it be diluted?
It can be used pure or diluted 1:1 or 1:2 with water, depending on the application and the absorption of the substrate.
Which adhesive goes over it for wood flooring?
Only vinyl adhesives, after 12-48 hours. It is not compatible with two-component adhesive or one-component polyurethane.
Is there a warranty?
If required, MAPEI can provide a warranty for each product it sells. Contact us about your case.
