About the project

At Green Coast Villas the verandas and the green roof were waterproofed with two different systems, each chosen for the load it has to carry. SARP supplied the materials and supervised the installation with Kron Construction.

The verandas sit over living space, so they were given a dual system: a self-adhesive membrane bonded to the slab below the screed, and a flexible cementitious membrane on top of the screed directly under the tiles. If water ever passes one layer, the second one stops it. The green roof carries soil, plants and constant moisture, so it was covered with a root-resistant PVC membrane, with welded details at every edge and outlet.

System applied

Verandas: dual system. Below, the slab was primed with Mapethene Primer and covered with the self-adhesive Mapethene HT AP membrane. Above, the screed was primed with Primer 3296 and waterproofed with Mapelastic flexible cementitious membrane reinforced with Mapenet 150 glass-fibre mesh, ready for tiling.

Green roof. The roof was waterproofed with Mapeplan B, a PVC membrane resistant to roots. Upstands and edges were formed with Mapeplan Lamiera (membrane-laminated metal sheet) and the water is taken off through the parapet with rectangular Mapeplan Bocchetta outlets. Polydren PL and Polyfond Kit protect the membrane and drain the water under the growing layer.
