About the project
A swimming pool has to hold water from the inside and, below ground, keep groundwater out. At Rafaelo Resort, Shëngjin, SARP supplied the waterproofing system and supervised its application with Rafaelo Resort.
The waterproofing goes on the concrete shell before tiling, with particular care at skimmers, nozzles and lights and at the junctions between floor and walls, where pools most often leak.
System applied
The pool shell was first levelled with Planitop Fast 330, a quick-setting, fibre-reinforced levelling mortar, to give an even surface. It was then waterproofed with Mapelastic Smart, a two-component, highly flexible cementitious membrane, reinforced with Mapetex Sel N non-woven fabric.
The tiles were then laid with Keraflex Maxi S1, a deformable, high-performance adhesive, grouted with Ultracolor Plus, and the elastic joints sealed with Mapesil AC mould-resistant silicone.
