Mapecem Pronto
Pre-blended, quick-setting and drying (24 hours), controlled-shrinkage mortar for internal and external screeds, floating or bonded.
Supplied by SARP & LAB, the only authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania.
Where it is used
- Internal and external floating and bonded screeds on old and new floor slabs
- Screeds for wood, PVC, linoleum, carpet, ceramic, natural stone and other floor coverings where quick drying is required
- Repairs and renovation of screeds in areas subject to continuous traffic, such as supermarkets, hospitals and airports
- Screeds incorporating heating systems, without adding plasticizers
Why Mapecem Pronto
- Ready for foot traffic after 2-3 hours and dry after 24 hours
- Ceramic tiles after 3-4 hours; PVC, linoleum, wood and stone after 24 hours
- Simply mixed with water, which avoids errors in binder dosage and choice of aggregates
- Useful where good aggregate is hard to find, or where transport and mixing are problematic, such as historical town centres
- EC1 Plus: very low emission
How it is applied
-
Prepare the substrate
All types of substrate are suitable. If there is moisture in the substrate, use a suitable vapour barrier. For bonded screeds, the substrate must be dry and free of cracks, powder, loose parts, paint, wax, oil and grease.
-
Mix
Mix a 25 kg bag with 2.1-2.3 litres of water for 3-4 minutes, in a paddle mixer, job site mixer or screw mixer. Do not change the amount of water. Pour and tamp no more than 30 minutes after the start of preparation.
-
Floating screeds (35 to 60 mm)
Lay on an uncoupling layer of polythene sheets or similar. Reinforce areas with pipe-work using light metallic mesh. Place 1 cm insulating material around the perimeter and columns. Prepare level guides, spread, tamp thoroughly and finish with a float.
-
Bonded screeds
Immediately before spreading, apply a continuous 2-3 mm slurry of Planicrete, water and Mapecem Pronto (1 : 1 : 2 by weight), and spread the mortar while it is still fresh. If the floor is subject to high mechanical stresses, use Eporip at the construction joint instead.
-
Check moisture and lay the covering
Measure residual moisture with a carbide hygrometer. Lay ceramic and natural stone after 3-4 hours, and resilient materials and wood after 24 hours.

Application precautions
- Do not use on screeds subject to rising damp: lay a vapour barrier
- Do not mix with other binders or aggregates
- Do not add water or re-mix once it has started to set
- Do not wet the surface of the screed
- Do not mix in cement plants or transport in cement trucks: the setting time is too short

Frequently asked questions
How much do I need per m²?
Approximately 20 kg/m² per cm of thickness, depending on how much tamping is carried out.
When can the floor covering be laid?
Ceramic and natural stone after 3-4 hours; resilient materials and wood after 24 hours, with residual moisture lower than 2%.
When can it be walked on?
Set to light foot traffic after 2-3 hours.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, for internal and external floating and bonded screeds.
Does it need sand or cement added?
No. It is mixed only with water and must not be mixed with other binders or aggregates.
Is there a warranty?
If required, MAPEI can provide a warranty for each product it sells. Contact us about your case.
