Primer G
Synthetic resin primer in water dispersion with a very low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Supplied by SARP & LAB, the only authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania.
Where it is used
- Treating gypsum surfaces before installing ceramic tiles
- Anchoring coat for gypsum-based sprayable plasters
- Improving the adhesion of smoothing compounds on cementitious, anhydrite and gypsum-based surfaces
- Providing uniform absorption in cementitious or gypsum surfaces
- Before tiles with cementitious adhesives on gypsum plasters, gypsum panels and anhydrite screeds
- Gypsum walls, chipboard, cement fibre boards, foamed concrete and renders, before papering or painting
Why Primer G
- Dries to a flexible, compact, shiny coating that consolidates the surface where needed
- Prevents the reaction between sulphates and cement aluminates that forms ettringite and separates the two elements
- Before self-levelling compounds, it reduces air bubbles and helps prevent over-rapid drying
- Before sprayable plasters, it prolongs workability time and helps prevent shrinkage cracks
- Not flammable, so it can also be used in closed, unventilated environments
How it is applied
-
Prepare the substrate
It must be clean, dry and free from oils, grease, residual paint and loose material. Repair cracks in concrete surfaces with Eporip or Epojet, and sandpaper anhydrite surfaces.
-
Tiles on gypsum
Stir, then spread uniformly by flat brush, roller or spray without diluting. Abrade particularly smooth and glossy gypsum beforehand. Install the tiles once it has dried.
-
Gypsum plasters
Dilute 1:2 with water and stir well. Apply the sprayable gypsum plaster as soon as the primer is dry.
-
Self-levelling and smoothing compounds
On cementitious substrates, dilute 1:1 with water. On gypsum-based substrates, use neat. Between smoothing layers, dilute 1:1.
-
Wallpaper adhesives
Dilute 1:3 with water and apply by flat brush, roller or spray.

Application precautions
- It does not waterproof gypsum substrates, even though it considerably reduces their porosity and absorption
- Do not apply onto magnesium substrates
- Not recommended for external applications or where rising damp is present
- Do not apply so much that it forms a surface film: dilute with water according to the absorption of the substrate

Frequently asked questions
How much is needed per m²?
Normal consumption is between 0.08 and 0.15 kg/m², depending on the porosity and absorption of the surface.
Can tiles be laid on gypsum with it?
Yes. Apply it undiluted on the gypsum surface and install the tiles once it has dried.
Can it be used outdoors?
No, it is not recommended for external applications or where rising damp is present.
Does it waterproof gypsum?
No. It considerably reduces porosity and absorption, but does not waterproof gypsum substrates.
How long before the next layer?
Before levelling compounds or adhesive: 30 min on concrete and 30-60 min on gypsum.
Is there a warranty?
If required, MAPEI can provide a warranty for each product it sells. Contact us about your case.
