SARP supplies MAPEI and Polyglass waterproofing systems for terraces, foundations, basement walls, bathrooms, swimming pools and water tanks — and works alongside the designer and contractor from choosing the system to supervising the work on site.
As the authorised MAPEI distributor in Albania we have supplied and supervised 28 waterproofing projects, from Durrës Yachts Marina to Crowne Plaza and Rafaelo Resort. Below, for each part of the building, you will find which systems are used, where to find the products and where we have applied them.
Terrace and roof waterproofing

A terrace is the most exposed surface of a building: sun, frost, standing water and thermal movement. The system is chosen according to the substrate, the exposure and how the surface will be used — a synthetic membrane for large exposed roofs, a liquid membrane or elastic mortar when tiles go on top.
Systems we use
- PVC-P and TPO synthetic membranes — Mapeplan (Polyglass), mechanically fixed or hot-air welded
- Liquid membranes and elastic mortars — Aquaflex Roof, Purtop Easy, Mapelastic, Mapegum WPS
- Accessories and details — roof outlets, aerators, Mapeplan metal sheet
Completed projects
Foundation and basement wall waterproofing

Below ground, water acts under pressure and repairs after backfilling are very expensive. That is why foundations and basement walls are waterproofed with membranes that bond fully to the concrete, so water cannot travel behind the membrane — with dedicated details for construction joints and pipe penetrations.
Systems we use
- Pre-applied HDPE membranes — Mapeproof AL AP+, Mapeproof FBT, Mapeproof FBH (before casting)
- Self-adhesive membranes — Mapeproof SA, Mapeproof FBA 1200, Mapethene HT AP (after casting)
- Bentonite and joints — Mapeproof P5, Idrostop Soft, Mapeproof Swell, Mapeplan Waterstop
- PVC membranes for underground structures — Mapeplan UG
Completed projects
Bathroom and wet area waterproofing

In bathrooms, showers and commercial kitchens the waterproofing goes under the tiles. Elastic cementitious or liquid membranes are used, reinforced with tape at wall–floor corners and around pipes and drains — the points where leaks happen most often.
Systems we use
- Elastic cementitious membranes — Mapelastic, Mapelastic Smart, Mapelastic Turbo
- Liquid membranes and tapes — Mapegum WPS, Mapeband
- Tile adhesives over the waterproofing — Keraflex Maxi S1 Zero, Ultralite S1 Flex
Completed projects
Swimming pool waterproofing

A pool holds water under pressure from inside and often has groundwater outside. The levelling layer, the mesh-reinforced elastic membrane, the tile adhesive, grout and sealant must work as one system.
Systems we use
- Surface levelling — Planitop Fast 330
- Reinforced elastic membrane — Mapelastic Smart with Mapetex Sel mesh
- Adhesive, grout and sealant — Keraflex Maxi S1, Ultracolor Plus, Mapesil AC
Completed projects
Water tank and reservoir waterproofing

Water tanks and reservoirs need waterproofing that withstands constant water pressure and suits how the tank is used. Synthetic membranes for hydraulic works or elastic cementitious membranes are used.
Systems we use
- PVC membranes for hydraulic works — Mapeplan WT
- Elastic cementitious membranes — the Mapelastic range
Completed projects
How we work
Choosing the system
We look at the substrate, the exposure and the use of the surface and propose the MAPEI or Polyglass system that fits, with all the details.
Supply
We supply the original materials and every accessory in the system — membranes, primers, tapes, outlets.
Site supervision
We follow the application on site together with the contractor. Our accredited laboratory tests the concrete, including water penetration.
Frequently asked questions
Which waterproofing system is best for a terrace?
There is no single best system. Large exposed roofs and terraces usually get PVC or TPO synthetic membranes; when tiles go on top, liquid membranes or elastic cementitious mortars are used. The choice depends on the substrate, exposure and use — see our terrace waterproofing guide.
How are the foundations of a new building waterproofed?
New buildings use HDPE membranes laid before casting that bond fully to the concrete, or self-adhesive membranes applied after casting. Construction joints are treated with hydro-expansive strips or waterstops.
How is a swimming pool waterproofed?
The surface is levelled, then a mesh-reinforced elastic cementitious membrane such as Mapelastic Smart with Mapetex Sel is applied, and the tiles are laid with adhesive, grout and sealant suitable for immersion.
What does SARP provide on a waterproofing project?
Choice of system, supply of original MAPEI and Polyglass materials and supervision of the work on site. Our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory tests the concrete.
